In the middle of the night, Sok and Joy went to catch frogs. They walked through the woods.
Every night, it was silent but tonight they heard the sound of a dog howling.
Sok paused his feet and said, “Dog howls.”
“The sound is from far away. It means trouble is over there. We are fine,” Joy said.
Hearing it, Sok nodded his head.
They continued walking. Suddenly, Sok paused his feet again.
“What’s the matter?” Joy asked.
“You look ahead of us. Under the tree,” Sok said and pointed.
Looking through his partner’s hand, Joy saw a man sitting under the tree, but because the night had no moonlight, he could not see clearly.
“Human or ghost?” Sok asked.
“How do I know? I’m with you,” Joy responded.
“What should we do now?”
After thinking for a while, Joy reached into his pants pocket, then took out a balm bottle. “We will throw this,” he said. “If he is a ghost, he will disappear.”
Sok nodded his head.
Joy held the balm bottle in his hand, then he threw it. Actually his intention was just to throw it at the tree or the ground around the tree to surprise that male figure, but the balm bottle flew to hit that guy.
“Waah..ow..ow…”
Just hearing the scream, Sok and Joy hurriedly ran away.
“Who did it?” The man yelled with his hand covering his forehead.
He looked around and saw no one besides the balm bottle. He picked it up and said angrily, “F** them. Throw a balm at me to apply it on my head.”
However, he didn’t want to waste it. He opened the lit and took the ointment to apply on his wound. After that, he left.
